Lt. Col. Emmett Lee Robertson, Jr. (USMC, Ret.), 84, of Stafford County passed away on February 3, 2019. He is now at home with his Lord and Savior. Mr. Robertson was born in Staunton on March 28, 1934 to the late Emmett L. and Margaret E. Robertson. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in June 1954, served in three Marine Corps divisions before being promoted to a Warrant Officer in 1964, was selected to LDO and retired with 30 years of service. Mr. Robertson served as security in Panama, a Drill Instructor at Parris Island, and a Traffic Management Officer at Camp Lejeune, Headquarters Marine Corps Washington D.C., Cincpac, Vietnam, Marine Corps Base Quantico, and Marine Corps Base Camp Butler, Okinawa, Japan. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary E. Robertson; sons Scott W. Robertson (Mary Ann) and Keith W. Robertson; and granddaughter Patricia K. Last (Scott). He was preceded in death by his parents, Emmett L. Robertson and Margaret Elizabeth Robertson; sons Jeffery Allen and Edwin L. Robertson; daughter Fonda Kay; sisters Mary Fitzgerald, Nancy Thompson, Joyce Zinkhan, Sandra Golladay; and brothers Grover W. Robertson and Charles D. Robertson. A service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 8 at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior at the funeral home. Interment will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 9 in Thornrose Cemetery in Staunton.
