The University of Mary Washington is truly an asset to our community. In addition to the spectrum of arts, theater, concerts and lectures it offers to the public (including the widely popular Great Lives series) are the care and concern that its students consistently exhibit.
On a number of occasions when I have asked passing students on campus for directions to a building, they have reversed their direction and walked with me until my destination was within view.
Recently, I was using a vending machine and had inserted a dollar, only to find that the change slot was jammed. In a short time, I found myself surrounded by four students who attempted to free up the coin slot or find a way to have my bill returned. Then one produced her debit card to pay the amount of the item’s cost that was remaining, and my new friends returned to what they had been doing!
