Teach your children how to stay safe
Many parents’ worst nightmare consists of their children disappearing and not coming home to their beds to sleep at night.
Parents should make their children aware of their surroundings and the possibilities of what could happen when they’re alone.
Teach them to know what to do when someone approaches them, as happened in Keith Epps’ April 5 article [“Suspicious driver reported at Stafford school bus stop”], in which “a man approached three middle school boys asking if they needed a ride.”
At this age, the boys should be aware of their environment. In this situation, they obviously knew to not do as the stranger said.
Luckily, the bus came in time; otherwise, three boys might not have returned home.
