BROOKE POINT

Coach: Sean Weaver

Last season: Seventh in district

Top returners: Sr. Michael Hatfield, Jr. William Rush.

Top newcomers: Jr. Grayson Evatt, So. Austin Vallejos, So. Brenden DeSena, Sr. Frankie DeSena, Fr. Ethan Greggs.

Outlook: The Black–Hawks are growing in numbers and hope that team success follows. Hatfield is a four-year starter.

COLONIAL FORGE

Coach: Rob Broxton

Last season: 5–3 overall (5–1 district), first in district

Top returners: Sr. Mathew Wood, Sr. Oliver Spiller, Sr. Maddy Brahler, So. Gabe Cook, So. Eric Saether.

Top newcomers: Fr. MJ Brahler.

Outlook: Broxton said he thinks the team has some solid depth and will be relying on its returning seniors to help “mentor, guide and lead” the squads younger players through the rigors of the season. The Eagles hope to be strong in the district again and contend for a spot in the state tournament.

MASSAPONAX

Coach: Dave Siegelman

Last season: Third in district

Top returners: Sr. Noah LaFleur, Sr. Mike Wallace, Sr. Kelvin Raibon, Sr. Zach Cruz.

Top newcomers: Sr. Will Kujawa, Jr. Sydney Vaillancourt.

Outlook: The Panthers top four are all experienced seniors that have been on the team since they were sophomores. The team has some depth which should provide competition within the squad to be on the match-day roster, which Siegelman hopes will help push the team to a regional berth.

MOUNTAIN VIEW

Coach: Steve Cassiday

Last season: Fourth in district

Top returners: Jr. Andrew Watson, Jr. Aiven Thomas, Sr. Gabby Cuellar.

Top newcomers: Jr. Tucker Tidwell, Fr. Ryan Hall, Fr. Grayson Margheim

Outlook: Returning state qualifiers Watson and Thomas give the Wildcats optimism about contending for the district title.

NORTH STAFFORD

Coach: Fred Donahue

Last season: Fifth in district

Top returners: Sr. Jacob Pfeiffer, Jr. Lexi Gaston, Sr. Regina Badami.

Top newcomers: Fr. Alden Robertson.

Outlook: Pfeiffer, a three-time state tournament qualifier, leads a veteran team that hopes to contend for the district title.

RIVERBEND

Coach: Scott Thomas

Last season: Second in district

Top returners: Jr. Makenzie Grann, Sr. Ryan Bell, Sr. Jacob DeGallery, Sr. Ryan Bastianelli.

Outlook: The Bears should have s strong core with five of their top six golfers returning from last year. Senior leadership will be strong point of this year’s group.

STAFFORD

Coach: Tommy Harrison

Last season: Sixth in district

Top returners: So. Drew Harding, So. Ben Harding, Jr. Davis Smith, So. Hunter Eutsler.

Top newcomers: Jr. Charlie Belman, Fr. Andrew Lazzeroni, So. Nesta Fletcher, Fr. Matt Mellors, Fr. Maya Wick.

Outlook: The Indians will have a young nucleus and hope to compete with the district’s best teams.

BATTLEFIELD DISTRICT

CAROLINE

Coach: Frank Dow

Last season: Seventh in district

Top returners: Jr. Kyle Pettigrew, So. Hannah Pettigrew, Sr. Danny Taylor, Sr. Chad Fancher.

Top newcomers: Sr. Gus Carter.

Outlook: With several returners, the Cavaliers will try to earn their first dual-match victory in two years.

CHANCELLOR

Coach: Stephen Tate

Last season: Sixth in district

Top returners: Sr. George Aste, Jr. Nic Gregory, Jr. Mason Sheetz, So. Kai Crockett.

Top newcomers: Jr. Brett Coleman, Fr. Will Earnesty, Fr. Garrett Peck, Fr. Ethan Rehberg.

Outlook: Aste, a regional qualifier in 2017, hopes to continue the Chargers’ steady improvement.

COURTLAND

Coach: Matthew Hibbs

Last season: 13–2–1, second in district

Top returners: Sr. Sydney Wise, Jr. Taylor Welsh, Jr. Hunter Pugh.

Top newcomers: Fr. Charlie Welsh, Fr. Emma Winter.

Outlook: After losing their top three scorers to graduation, the Cougars will look to rebuild around Wise, Taylor Welsh and Pugh.

EASTERN VIEW

Coach: Patrick Thornhill

Last season: Fifth in district

Top returners: So. Kelly Hackley.

Outlook: The Cyclones don’t have a senior and feature just two juniors, so gradual improvement is their goal.

JAMES MONROE

Coach: Greg Howard

Last season: 9–3 overall (9–1 district), first in district.

Top returners: Jr. Noah Adams.

Top newcomers: So. Clare Kingsley, Jr. Gray Dameron, Jr. Cooper Sims.

Outlook: With only four players on the roster, it will be a rebuilding year for the Yellow Jackets who graduated six seniors from last year’s squad. Gaining experience as the season goes on will be an added bonus.

KING GEORGE

Coach: Donald Saunders

Last season: Fourth in district

Top returners: Jr. Ryan Tonnetti.

Top newcomers: Fr. Troy Spillman, Jr. Brett Caputo.

Outlook: The Foxes will have a lot of holes to fill after graduating nine seniors from last year’s squad. Tonnetti has some varsity experience, but it will be a rebuilding year. The team will be playing at Pendleton Golf Club this season.

SPOTSYLVANIA

Coach: Jim McNamee

Last season: Third in district

Top returners: Jr. Rachel Detore, Sr. William Rappa, So. Troy Moskowitz, So. Jack DiFillipo, So. Bryce Dalton.

Outlook: Detore, a girls state tournament qualifier last year, becomes the team leader after three starting seniors graduated.
