Riverbend’s previously unbeaten Kiersten Chang fell 7-6, (7-3), 6-3 to Landstown freshman Chelsea Samuels in Friday’s Class 6 girls’ tennis singles semifinals at Deep Run High School.

George Marshall’s Riley Tran swept Samuels 6-0, 6-0 in the final.

Meanwhile at Glen Allen, Massaponax senior Alexa Brewster dropped a 6-2, 6-1 semifinal match to Broad Run’s Kiersten Husted in Class 5D. Maury’s Mya Byrd beat Husted 6-3, 6-3 in the final.

Defending state champion Natasha Novak of York swept James Monroe’s Haley Casperson 6-0, 6-0 in the Class 3 semifinals in Roanoke. Novak’s brother R.J. topped JM’s Adam Payne 6-2, 6-2 in a Class 3 boys’ semifinal.

Adams and Connor Sims will face R.J. Novak and Aryan Prahudesai in Friday’s doubles semifinals, while Casperson and Winny Hall will take on Natasha Novak and Cassie Watts.
