Stephen Johnston hit a grand slam, David Lambertson had a productive day and the University of Mary Washington baseball used some stellar pitching to sweep a Saturday doubleheader from visiting College of New Rochelle at V. Earl Dickinson Stadium. Game scores were 10–2 (first game) and 7–0.

In the opener, the Eagles jumped out to a 5–0 lead in the first inning and never looked. Lambertson doubled, singled twice and drove in three runs. Nick Bass drove in a pair of runs while Garrett Lyons scored three times. Robert Cross (2–0) limited the Angels to two runs on two hits over five innings while striking out three.

In the nightcap, the Eagles were leading 1–0 in the fifth inning when Johnston cleared the bases with a fifth-inning grand slam. Kevin France scored twice. Hank Biggs (1–0) tossed five scoreless innings, striking out a pair.

The Eagles (3–1) host the Angels today at 1 p.m.
